My grandmother was a child during the Great Depression and a bride during WWII. Her ability to use even the tiniest scraps of fabric and yarn to create something useful and beautiful was one of her many superpowers. She taught me that even the smallest remnants were precious. I like to think that she would rather love this bag.

Only The Good Bits
is a crocheted bucket bag designed to use up all of your beloved remnants of fingering weight yarn marled with a consistent colorway throughout to make a cohesive color palette.

This piece of practical artistry is worked from the bottom up in simple single crochet to make a sturdy but beautiful tote large enough to hold up to five skeins of yarn!

Yarn 1 skein of Barker Wool Fern in a tonal colorway + approx. 100g of fingering weight remnants. I used Serenade for the tonal in the original. Both yarns are held together throughout.
Finished Measurements 8” wide at the base X 14” tall including the handles.

Hook F / 3.75mm
Gauge 20 sts x 24 rows = 4 x 4” square in single crochet.
Additional Equipment A scale that weighs in grams

Choose a tonal color that you like and that works well with the remnants that you have. Neutrals like black, gray, natural, taupe, brown, or navy blue are safe choices, but any tonal color that you like will work. The goal is to choose a background color that pulls together all of your disparate scraps and turns them into a cohesive color palette.
