Swarm is a rectangular wrap featuring single row stripes and a textured spool stitch in two contrasting colors.  It’s the sixth in a series of projects using the concept of Assigned Pooling.  Assigned Pooling occurs when a change in stitch and texture is assigned to changes in color within a skein of variegated yarn.  Stockinette Stitch is assigned to the main color to create a striped backdrop for the spool stitch assigned to the accent color.

Every assigned pooling project will be as unique as the yarn you choose.  Swarm needs two contrasting colorways to really make the stripes stand out.  I used Nightfall, (charcoal background with a light taupe accent section), and Script, (Light taupe background with charcoal accent section).  These two colorways are perfectly opposed to each other, but any contrasting pair will work beautifully.  Try to focus on choosing background colors that really stand out from each other to make the stripes pop.  The contrast between the accent colors is not as important.  The spool stitch is not dependent on a particular length of accent color making it a versatile stitch for different types of variegated skeins.

Yarn 2 skeins Nightfall and 2 skeins of Script on Barker Wool BFL Fingering or approximately 1,748 yards of fingering weight yarn designed for use with Assigned Pooling in two contrasting colors.
